What is Learning@Griffith?

Learning@Griffith is the Griffith University online teaching and learning environment, where you can access all your course information, learning materials, lecture recordings and assessments.  It encompasses the Learning Management System Canvas, as well as other educational platforms, including Turnitin, Echo360 and more.

What is Canvas?

Canvas is Griffith’s new Learning Management System (LMS). It offers all your study needs in one space, including course content, lecture recordings, online assessment submissions points, marks and feedback, and more. For information about Canvas, see What is Canvas? (Canvas Guides).

Learning@Griffith will be with you all throughout your studies. However, you will lose access if you:

  • Have deferred your study
  • Have had your enrolment suspended for any reason
  • Are a HDR student and have submitted your thesis
  • Have graduated from your program (that is, your official conferral date has passed)

What is myGriffith?

myGriffith is your own personal student portal to find services and resources. It allows you to:

  • See your daily schedule, exams timetable and grades, including your Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Enrol in courses for the upcoming trimester
  • Easily access support resources and workshops to help you succeed
  • Access your unofficial transcript

To learn more about myGriffith, watch this video.

How to access the Canvas system

You can access Canvas at https://lms.griffith.edu.au/ or through the link in the top right of your myGriffith page. We recommend bookmarking this link in your browser for easy access.

If you are logging in for the first time, you may need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), e.g. PingID.

If you receive the error message “Canvas doesn’t have an account for user” please wait up to 24 hours for your account to be automatically created.

Accessing Canvas when you are both a student and a staff member

If you are both a student and staff member at Griffith, you will have two Canvas accounts, one for each email address.

The different email address formats:

  • Student email address: jane.doe@griffithuni.edu.au
  • Staff email address: j.doe@griffith.edu.au

To switch between the two, you will need to fully logout of Canvas as well as your Office365/Microsoft session. You may find it easier to have separate browsers, or dedicated profiles within a single browser for the different accounts. For guidance on setting up browser profiles, see How to Use Browser Profiles (External).

Computer and browser requirements for Canvas

To make sure your computer and browser are suitable for use with Canvas, see What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products? (Canvas Guides).
