Starting out with assessment
Each course at Griffith has different assessment requirements. Your starting point for information about assessment requirements for each course should be the Course Profile. Course profiles for your enrolled courses can be accessed via:
- myGriffith
- The Canvas course site (Course Profile link in the left-hand menu)
- The course profile system
You may also find additional information about your assessment in your Canvas course site under Assessment Overview.
The video below shows you how to find the Assessment Overview, as well as how to navigate and submit assessment in Canvas and access links to the resources and support you need to succeed.
Developing Study Skills
University life can be challenging, but if you use some of our tips and links below, life can be easier when you're at university.
- Many students tell us that good time management and being well-organised are two important factors that have contributed to their success.
- Critical thinking is an important skill to develop at university and you'll use it when researching, reading, note-taking and writing assignments.
- Effective reading techniques will help you to read smarter, not faster.
- Quality note-taking will be important in lectures, research and studying for exams. It will save you time and stress later in the trimester.
- Prepare for exams to organise your time and resources as early as possible.
- Sometimes you will be required to work on an assignment, project or class presentation with a group of fellow students. Group work can enhance your social skills, build self-esteem and confidence, and promote tolerance through the sharing of alternative ideas and points of view.

Preparing to submit
Before submitting an online assessment, check your course site for information regarding any restrictions or limitations on your ability to make a submission. For example, an online exam or quiz may only be available for you to access within a certain window of time, or you may only be able to make a single submission for an assignment, even if you have multiple files to attach. Ensuring your submission adheres to these requirements will reduce the risk of issues occurring.
