Griffith University began using Canvas to deliver Learning@Griffith courses in June 2022. The migration of courses and included content from Blackboard is approaching completion, and all courses are now delivered using Canvas.

From the end of trimester 1, 2024, Blackboard will no longer be available to staff or students.

What about content in Blackboard?

If you wish to save content from past Blackboard courses, you need to do so before Sunday, 16th June 2024.

You may wish archive content specifically from the period between trimester 3 2021 and trimester 2, 2022.

Downloading Assessments

If you are wanting to bulk download student assessment submissions for a course you have been a course convenor for, you can do this via the Archive functionality that will produce a Blackboard Archive zip file of all of the course content and student marks/submissions (including students who have graduated or left the university). A link to the vendor documentation for how to download a course archive is below.

While this archive is meant for re-importing into another Blackboard instance, opening the archive will show folders within it and some of these will contain all of the student submissions depending on the assessment type used. While disabled accounts don't appear in the Blackboard user interface, all of their data is still stored within the course site behind the scenes and will therefore appear in the zip files.

Export and Archive Courses (Blackboard Help Center)

Please note that Blackboard Archive zip files contain personal identifiable information of students so you will need to treat these archive zip files in a secure way as you would with any other student data.

All students and staff will lose access to Blackboard at the end of trimester 1, 2024. Please ensure you have downloaded any files you wish to keep before this date.
