Understand the road rules for safety
To ensure safety and security for the community, Griffith University enforces the Transport Operations (Road Use Management - Road Rules) Regulation 2009, the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 and regulations through the Griffith University Act 1998.

Prohibited parking areas
Loading zones
Sedans and station wagons may not park in a commercial vehicle loading zone if the vehicle is not registered as a commercial vehicle.

Parking across a driveway
A driver must not stop on or across a driveway or other way of access for vehicles travelling to or from adjacent land unless the driver is dropping off or picking up passengers, does not leave the vehicle unattended, and completes the dropping off or picking up within two minutes after stopping.

Parking on footpath, nature strip, grassed or other area
Vehicles must not stop on a bicycle path, footpath, shared path, dividing strip or a nature strip adjacent to a length of road in a built up area.

Loading zone 2 minute drop off/ University Vehicles only
Left: 2min stop to drop off or pick up passengers – All hours.
Right: Vehicles owned by the University only – All hours.
Loading zone 20 min max/No standing
Left: Any vehicle may park for a maximum stay as displayed on the sign between the times displayed.
Right: No stopping at any time.
Bottom: Free parking outside the hours displayed above.
Parking permit zones
Left: Vehicles owned by the University or Security only. All hours.
Right: Special permit holders only. 8am to 4pm | Monday to Friday.
Bottom: Any valid parking permit between 4pm to 7pm | Monday to Friday. Free parking outside these times.
Angle parking
Vehicle must be parked rear end in.
The signage is supplementary to permit zone parking regulations.
A valid parking permit is also required to park in areas displaying this instruction.
Traffic area
Any valid parking permit. 8am to 7pm | Monday to Friday.
Free parking at other times.Motorcycles
Motorcycle parking available at all hours.
Shared zone
This zone is for pedestrians and vehicles. Vehicle speed limit is indicated on sign.
Disabled parking
Only vehicles displaying a current disability parking permit may park in this area.
General permit zone
Top: General permit holders only. 7am to 4pm | Monday to Sunday.
Middle: Any valid parking permit. 4pm to 11:30pm | Monday to Sunday.
Bottom: Free parking at other times.
2P Meter
Maximum two-hour parking to be paid for at the nearest pay-by-plate machine or via PayStay. Valid between specified hours.
Annual and Trimester parking permits are not valid in a 2P Meter park.
Please note paying for a full days parking does not allow you to park for longer than 2 hours.
Pool vehicles and Visitor parking
Left: University registered pool vehicles only between specified hours.
Right: Authorisation to park as a visitor needs to be obtained from the University during these hours.
Bottom: Free parking outside the above hours.
Special permit zone
Special permits authorised by the University only. Allowed during all hours.
Yellow line
A driver must not stop or park at the side of a road marked with a continuous yellow edge line.
Commercial loading
Commercial vehicles only can stand for 20 minutes between the specified hours.
