Improving candidate success and retention

The Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Candidate Experience survey gives HDR candidates the opportunity to share their experiences.

Feedback gathered through this survey is valuable in improving candidate success and retention efforts, as early satisfaction and positive engagement experiences have been shown to improve long-term candidate success. Here are some recent changes we have made in response to feedback received through the 2022 and 2023 surveys:

  • Griffith has strengthened its provision to HDR candidates in the areas of professional and career development.
  • Griffith has increased resourcing to better enable external engagement experiences.
  • Griffith has focused on enhancing communications with candidates at both the local and University level, including strengthening HDR candidate representation.

The second key area is the supervision they receive and the final key area is the support they receive in developing their skills.
