Engage staff and students with your project
Engaging the Griffith community in your research or project fosters a connected and responsive environment for all—staff, students, Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and alumni.
To help you get the most out of the people you’re trying to reach, inviting our community to take part in research, surveys or other feedback mechanisms should be conducted at a time and through channels they are most likely to engage with.
Conducting surveys and research with the Griffith community is governed by policy and requires approval through an application process.
Application process
The application form must be completed by any member of the Griffith community who intends to invite Griffith staff, students, HDR candidates or alumni to take part in their research, survey or other feedback mechanism.
Our goal is to manage contact frequency with Griffith’s populations to minimise survey fatigue, ensure equitable access for those who seek input from Griffith’s people, and optimise response rates and data quality.
Applications can take two to three working days for approval.
Before you apply
Please ensure you have read the Conducting Surveys with Griffith Staff and Students policy and procedure.
Research studies or projects that require approval from Griffith University’s Human Research Ethics Committee (GUHREC) will need to provide their GUHREC number from their approved application.
For more information on research ethics, integrity and compliance visit the Research Integrity website.
Prepare the following documentation before you apply so you can upload them in the form:
- Participant information sheet or survey front page.
- Questions you intend to ask in your study or survey.
- If applicable, proof of executive endorsement.
Collaborate with our community
Placing your audience at the centre of survey design can enhance engagement and outcomes. At Griffith, we want to ensure student voices are heard and provide them with the agency to shape their university experiences.
When working with our community of Griffith students, we recommend following the Student Voice & Partnerships Framework to guide meaningful collaboration and partnership. The principles outlined in the framework can also be applied when seeking input from staff, HDR candidates and alumni.
More information and resources can be found on the Student Voice & Partnerships staff hub.
Volunteer for important research projects broadcast
The Volunteer for important research projects monthly broadcast is the primary communication channel to connect you with the entire student and staff population.
We publish a list of research projects once a month asking the Griffith student and staff community to participate in the latest PhD studies, clinical trials and other research. These projects are published on our webpage and sent out to all staff via Griffith Staff News, and all students via myGriffith.
It is possible to advertise research projects up to three times in one calendar year, at the request of the researcher.
External applicants
External research projects are generally not accepted for promotion to Griffith staff, students, HDR candidates or alumni. An exception to this is where a Griffith researcher is a named collaborator/researcher on your research project.
In this case, the Griffith researcher must complete Griffith’s Human Research Ethics approval process and submit the application on behalf of the external researchers.
