These degrees are mapped to high-demand fields of work and designed to provide skilled, confident and competent professionals in critical areas including sustainability, public health, education and many more.

A large number of our postgraduate degrees can be studied fully online, so it’s easy to balance learning around your professional, family and personal commitments. We also offer exceptional support, both during your degree and after you graduate, so you can be sure we’ll give you the tools you need to succeed.

Securing your subsidised place is easy—simply take a look through the degrees listed below and follow the instructions on how to apply.

Having a Commonwealth supported place at university means that the government pays part of your fees. Because this is a subsidy and not a loan, you don’t have to pay anything back. This subsidy will not cover the entire cost of your study, but you may be eligible for a discount of up to 80 per cent.

To be eligible for a CSP, you will need to be a domestic student who is also one of the following:

  • an Australian citizen, who will undertake at least one course in Australia with your provider
  • an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder, who will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your study
  • a New Zealand citizen, who holds a SCV and will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your course
  • a former permanent humanitarian visa holder, who will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your course.

Yes. You can choose to study part-time or full-time without affecting the subsidy.

As a Griffith student, you can choose to access learning materials online or via a mix of online and face-to-face delivery. However, we encourage you to attend face-to-face sessions whenever possible so you can benefit fully from interactions with teachers and classmates.

Admissions and Enrolment

No. Applications for postgraduate degrees are made directly to Griffith University. Simply select your preferred degree from the above list, find the ‘Apply’ section and follow the prompts.

Not all degrees are offered across all three trimesters, so enrolment dates can vary. You can check your preferred degree’s commencement dates by selecting it from the above list. For information on application and enrolment dates, refer to our academic calendar and key dates page.

Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to defer your offer to a later trimester. Offers need to be accepted for the originally intended trimester or a new application will need to be completed for the next intake.

As an international student you may be eligible to apply for one of these degrees. However, they are only available at the discounted rate if you are a domestic student who is:

  • an Australian citizen, who will undertake at least one course in Australia with your provider
  • an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder, who will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses
  • an eligible New Zealand citizen who holds a SCV and will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses
  • an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses.
Support

Yes. At Griffith, we’re committed to your success. You’ll be supported from day one, with access to a personalised online orientation and induction, as well as a forum where you can engage with other students. For more information, visit orientation.

Our library also offers a range of resources, including Earlybird workshops and online modules you can access at any time. Library staff are available to answer your questions and provide advice, both on the phone and via web chat during AEST business hours. You can join Peer Assisted Study Sessions for a wide range of courses. PASS is facilitated by student leaders who have previously completed the course and achieved excellent results. Participating in PASS will help you improve your grades, better understand course content, break down complex ideas and could even save you hours with smarter study methods. For further information, visit Peer Assisted Study Sessions.

If you have not taken a course online before, we recommend you visit our Thrive Online site where you’ll find advice from current students to help you prepare for and navigate online study.

Most courses will require:

  • a modern device (less than five years old)
  • headphones
  • access to Wi-Fi
Fees

Some of our subsidised postgraduate degrees are uncapped, which means all offers for those degrees will have a Commonwealth Supported Place.

Other subsidised postgraduate degrees are capped, and quotas are applied to admission. In cases where demand exceeds the number of available CSPs, not all eligible applicants who meet minimum program entry requirements may be offered one. If you are not successful in gaining a CSP, you may be eligible for a standard (full-fee) rate for domestic students.

Visit the relevant degree page for further information.

You can find indicative fees for each specific degree on our website. You can also find out more about tuition fees on our Paying your fees page. The discount, which varies per degree, has been decided based on national priorities. The subsidy is an Australian Government incentive, which is subtracted from the standard indicative fee.

No, CSP’s are only available to commencing students.

You may be eligible to defer your fees to a HECS-HELP loan if you are either:

  • an Australian citizen, who will undertake, in Australia, at least one course with your provider
  • an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder and will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses
  • an eligible New Zealand citizen who holds a SCV and will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses
  • an eligible former permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be a resident of Australia for the duration of your courses

and you

  • are enrolled in a CSP
  • have provided your valid Tax File Number

You can visit Government HELP loans and/or Study Assist for further information.

Unfortunately, no. HECS-HELP is not available to Australians living overseas. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for a CSP and HECS-HELP, you will be offered the standard (full-fee) rate for domestic students and will be required to pay your student fees up front each trimester.

No. Commonwealth-supported students cannot apply for an APP for their student contribution charges. For further information on the student financial support services we offer at Griffith, visit student support.
