Can I enrol in Griffith Sport Active Kids program for individual days?
Yes, there are two enrolment options available:
- Option 1: Enrol for a consecutive week of fun & enjoy a discount daily rate; or
- Option 2: Pick and choose the days you would like to attend and enrol in just those days.
Where is the drop off and pick up for the Griffith Sport Active Kids?
Drop off and pick up will be from the Griffith University Mt Gravatt Recreation Hall. All children must be signed in and out by their parent or carer via one of our Active Kids Supervisors. The program will begin at 9 am and finish at 4 pm. Griffith Sport offers free 'Before Care' from 8 am - 9 am and 'After Care' from 4 pm - 5 pm. All children must be collected no later than 5 pm.
Where can I park?
Free parking is available at the Griffith University Aquatic and Fitness Centre (subject to availability). The car park is accessible via Aquatic Lane through the lower car park on campus. Parking tickets are to be obtained from the ticket machine at the entrance of the Aquatic and Fitness Centre carpark. If utilising the Aquatic and Fitness car park, patrons are not required to purchase a regular university parking ticket. All Aquatic and Fitness Centre parking tickets must be validated at the reception desk before you leave.
Please note: If you park outside of the Aquatic and Fitness Centre car park, normal campus parking restrictions apply and we hold no responsibility for any parking fees incurred or if you incur a fine while parking on campus.
What happens if I am running late?
Please contact the Active Kids Program Leader to advise us you will be late on 0434 171 918. If you are running late to drop off your child, please make sure you contact the Team Leader to let them know you are still coming and find the updated location pending the sport activity. We do not accept late pick-ups, due to staffing requirements. If you arrive later than 5pm, you will be charged $25 per child/ per 15 minutes to cover overtime staffing costs. This will be invoiced against your EnrolMy account & future bookings not accepted until paid.
What does my child need to bring?
Please ensure you pack the following items for your child: hat, sunscreen, sports shoes, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a drink bottle. For sessions that will be in the pool, please also pack your child's swimwear, towel, appropriate footwear and a sun-shirt. Additional sunscreen and water will be provided by Griffith Sport where required.
Can I order food for my child?
An appropriate lunch must be packed - There is an option for parents to pre-order snacks daily from the aquatic centre kiosk via Credit Card ONLY. It is Important to note that these items are snacks and is not a suffice healthy lunch option.
Please note; The Active Kids program is a NUT FREE program.
What if my child has a medical condition or needs to take medication during a program?
If your child has any medical conditions or requires any medication to be administered by a Griffith Sport staff member, you must ensure a Permission to Administer Medication Form has been completed and submitted. We would request that written instructions be provided to staff regarding how to administer the prescribed medication to your child in the likelihood of an incident occurring.
What is the ratio of children to instructors?
The program has an average ratio of 12 children per staff member. When in the pool, the average ratio will be six children per staff.
Are the staff qualified?
All Griffith Sport Staff hold a current first aid certificate and have a positive Working with Children Blue Card. Staff may also hold varying Level 1 coaching qualifications offered in a range of different sports we provide during the program.
Are child care benefits available?
Griffith Sport do not offer the Child Care Benefit or Child Care Rebate for the Active Kids program.
What is the cancellation policy?
Griffith Sport has a no-refund policy. Cancellations will only be considered with receipt of Medical Certificates. Administration fees will apply for all changes after enrolment.
What happens if my child misses a day?
Please contact the Active Kids Program Leader on 0434 171 918 to advise us that your child will not be not attending on a day in which they have enrolled. You must also email the Active Kids Coordinator at activekids@griffith.edu.au to advise of any absence.
Please note; We have a strict no refund policy & these sessions will be considered forfeit.
What happens if my child is injured?
If your child is hurt during an activity, our first-aid qualified staff will assess the injuries and treat as required. In the event of a serious injury, an ambulance will be called. In all cases parents will be notified as soon as possible and an incident report will be completed.
What is your wet weather policy?
Griffith Sport has a number of indoor sporting facilities that the Active Kids programs can utilise so all programs will continue to go ahead despite wet weather.
Can I stay and watch my children during their session?
Parents/carers are not permitted inside the Recreation Hall. If parents wish to stay at the program after children are checked in they are kindly asked to wait in the canteen area of the Mount Gravatt Aquatic & Fitness Centre. Please also note that parents are not permitted to be involved in sporting sessions. Unless otherwise arranged with Griffith Sport staff, we ask that all parents/carers depart and then return to pick up their child at the end of the day.
Does Griffith Sport Active Kids have insurance?
All Griffith Sport programs and activities are covered by public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
Are your participant numbers capped?
Our current cap for the Active Kids Program is 72 kids per day.
