Class Levels

Current Skill Level: Tentative, non-confident, with very little or no previous exposure to or experience in water.

Aim: To gain confidence and feel comfortable enough in water to float and remain at the surface without panic and to be able to remain afloat until help arrives or to be able to propel short distances to safety.

Activities include: Breath control, floatation and body position, water safety and survival, buoyancy and basic propulsive skills.

Equipment Required: Participants ideally have goggles and possibly caps or hairbands to contain long hair if required.

Class Capacity:  Max 4 people per class.

Duration: 40 minutes

Current Skill Level: Can stay afloat and are able to swim short distances up to 25 meters. May lack or have limited breathing skills. Will have little to no freestyle skills and have possibly and probably had no formal swimming tuition.

Aim: To improve confidence and refine breathing technique and body position in the water. To introduce the basics of freestyle, backstroke and breastroke. To begin laying down the basic foundation for balanced and more efficient swimming in each of the three previously mentioned strokes.

Activities Include: Drills and basic exercises to improve body position, enhance breathing skills and improve propulsion and efficiency in water.

Equipment Required: Flippers would be beneficial and ideal for this level.

Class Capacity:  Max 5 people per class.

Duration: 40 minutes

Aim: To improve balance, body position, timing and efficiency of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. To introduce the basics of butterfly.

Activities Include: swim drills to improve efficiency in all strokes.

Equipment Required: Flippers would be beneficial and ideal for this level.

Class Capacity:  Max 6 people per class.
