About the network
What is the Financial Welfare Network?
The Financial Welfare Network helps staff seize the moment and find support for individual students who are experiencing financial hardship:
- For staff, that means quickly and easily having access to information, advice and support they can share with the students they are talking to.
- For students, this means connecting with the right service and support the first time—hopefully resolving issues before they get out of hand.
The network also includes training for staff and resources designed to be shared with the wider student community in lectures, tutorials and online spaces.
Who is the Financial Welfare Community?
We are a network of staff from all campuses and areas of Griffith University—from academics, administrators and health professionals, who have come together to improve how we respond to the financial welfare needs of students.
Our community is a space for gathering the wisdom and insights of staff and to co-design resources for the Financial Welfare Network. Staff can also get assistance from our online community when supporting students. We are not a crisis service, though we can connect students with them.
If you are a Griffith Staff member and would like to be involved, you can Join the Financial Welfare Community here.

What assistance do we provide?
Our purpose is to help students to connect with the right supports for their circumstances.
At our core, we are ordinary people. We have come together to combine our time, knowledge, insights and experience to ensure students are well supported throughout their studies.
We are not here to provide therapy or financial counselling, but we can help students connect with people who can.
Why is the network for staff only?
The Financial Welfare Network is part of a larger plan that is being rolled out across all areas of the university.
This plan includes information and resources for students, and these are being developed in collaboration with the Financial Welfare Community.
If you are a student looking for urgent assistance, please see the supports listed below.
