Support for gifted visual artists
The Board of the Friends of the Arts Gift Fund, in line with their mission and vision, have created the Friends of the Arts Gift Fund Scholarship. The scholarship aims to develop young and talented artists residing on the Gold Coast, to grow and support further opportunities for the Gold Coast art community.

Scholarship details
To be eligible, you must be:
- A student enrolled full time or part time in the Bachelor of Design (Honours), Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours), inclusive of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art (CAIA Honours) or QCA Master of Course work in any of these degrees at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.
- Be a Gold Coast resident
- Have a GPA of 4.0 or higher
- Be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.

- Applicants must provide a PowerPoint presentation with examples from their portfolio for the selection committee to review.
- A reference from your Program Director speaking to the quality of your work.

A selection panel comprising the Deputy Director—Learning and Teaching QCA, respected alumnus of the QCA, QCA Honours Program Director/s and Chairperson of the Friends of the Arts (or nominated representative) will review applications and select the recipient.
Value
The scholarship is valued at $5,000 paid in a single instalment.
Payments are made up to six weeks after the census date, subject to the recipient satisfying scholarships terms and conditions.
Donor Details
The Friends of the Arts Gift Fund was established in 2006 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Arts Centre. The Gift Fund was established through a generous endowment by Jock and Beverley McIlwain who have continued to support the fund annually.
To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients will be required to:
- remain enrolled at Griffith University in the program for which the scholarship was awarded
- maintain good academic progress at Griffith University (GPA of 4.0 or above).
The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.
Applications, including referee reports and any supporting documentation, must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Applicants may be shortlisted and be required to provide additional information.
Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
