Support for gifted visual artists
This scholarship acknowledges the important role of visual artists in our culture and the need to support young artists to pursue excellence and careers in visual art.
The scholarship is a collaboration between Queensland College of Art and Design (QCAD) and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), designed to recognise the achievements of students in the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Arts—an initiative of Queensland Department of Education.

Scholarship details
To be eligible, you must be:
- an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
- eligible for admission into either the Bachelor of Visual Art (1651) or Bachelor of Visual Art/Bachelor of Business (1652) at the Queensland College of Art and Design, Griffith University
- the recipient of an Excellence Award in the 'Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art' and have exhibited in the 'Creative Generation' exhibition at GOMA.

Statements
To give yourself the best chance, we recommend you complete the personal statement. However, all statements you complete will be considered.
Personal Statement (required):
- Personal statement (up to 250 words) including:
- What did your participation in the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art mean to you?
- Career goals: How do you wish to use your abilities in the Visual Arts to make a career? It is not necessary to select only one path, we would like to hear what types of creative careers appeal to you.
- A description of why this scholarship would be of value to you.
Supporting documentation (required):
- Minimum of five images of your best artwork (maximum of 10). This may include (but should not be limited to )your CGEN submission. Artwork may range from sketches to more substantial works.
- A written reference from your secondary high school visual art teacher. Teachers should comment on your ability and commitment to visual arts. If your visual arts teacher is not available, you may nominate another senior staff member from your school who is familiar with your abilities and commitment to the visual arts, such as the principal, deputy principal or head of department.

Value
Maximum value is $6,000. Instalments of $2,000 are payable in Trimester 1 and 2 (paid annually from the trimesters’ award date), up to the maximum value of the scholarship, provided conditions are met.
Payment
Payments are made up to six weeks after the census date subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.
To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients will be required to:
- continue to meet eligibility requirements and remain enrolled at Griffith University in the program for which the scholarship was awarded
- maintain good academic progress at Griffith University (GPA of 3.5 or above)
The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.
Applications, including referee reports and any supporting documentation, must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Applicants may be shortlisted and be required to provide additional information.
Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
