Support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to undertake a business degree

The Griffith Business Schools has established this scholarship to provide support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student to assist with their studies. The scholarship is available for commencing students in business, government and related degrees hosted by Griffith Business School.

Applications are encouraged from school and non-school leaver candidates.

Scholarship details

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • be commencing university for the first time in Trimester 1 2025
  • be applying for admission an undergraduate degree hosted by GBS
  • not be in receipt of any other scholarship funded by Griffith University

You may be asked to provide a Confirmation of Heritage. Note: A letter of confirmation is usually obtained from an incorporated Indigenous organisation and stamped with their common seal

  • Personal statement: In 500 words or less, outline how the scholarship would benefit your studies at university and support your career aspirations when graduating from a business and/or government degree at Griffith.
  • Supporting documentation: You must upload the following:
    • Confirmation of Heritage - a letter of confirmation is usually obtained from an incorporated Indigenous organisation and stamped with their Common Seal.

Candidates will, primarily be ranked based on ATAR scores and other supporting academic achievement, as well as their ability to articulate the personal benefit of the scholarship to support their career aspirations from studying business and/or government.

Value

Maximum value of the scholarship is determined by the length of the undergraduate degree for which you are awarded, and is calculated at a rate of $625/10 CP . For example:

  • $15,000 for a single degree (240 CP)
  • $20,000 for a double degree (320 CP).

Payment

Instalments are based on enrolled credit points for the trimester, up to the maximum value. Payments are made directly to the recipients' nominated bank account up to six weeks after the census date of each trimester, subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.

Please note payments made to those studying part-time may be taxable.

Payment is made after census on confirmation that recipients are enrolled at Griffith University and still meet eligibility requirements.

To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients will be required to:

  • maintain a minimum term GPA of 4 or above (each trimester)
  • remain enrolled in a Griffith Business School-hosted degree (changes to the degree for which the scholarship is awarded may impact the value of the scholarship)
  • not be in receipt of any other scholarship funded by Griffith University

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, it is at the discretion of the Griffith Business School Scholarship Selection panel to withhold the trimester instalment or terminate the scholarship.
