This award supports a graduating Queensland Academy of Excellence in Musical Theatre (QAEMT) student with pursuing further postgraduate studies and/or activities.

  • enrolled in the Queensland Academy of Excellence in Musical Theatre (QAEMT)
  • enrolled in your final trimester of study

Selection Process

Applicants are to provide supporting documentation detailing:

  • Proposed studies/activities for which the funds will be used, including a budget of indicative expenses and any other available funding.
  • Career vision and how this support will benefit your goals.
  • Postgraduate plan that demonstrates how it will extend upon your learnings at the Queensland Academy of Excellence in Musical Theatre (QAEMT) and will advance your career in Musical Theatre.

The applicants will be required to perform a solo song (with movement/dance) of their own choice between 3 - 4 minutes for the selection panel.

The successful recipient will be selected by the panel based on their performance (solo song), interview and application.

The award has a maximum value of $20,000 payable in instalments as approved by QAEMT.

To remain eligible for the award recipients must meet the following terms and conditions:

  • Commence their travel within 12 months of receiving the award.
  • A financial schedule will be established for the recipient to ensure the monies are provided to the recipient throughout the year in reasonable allotments.
  • Payments will be dependent on the recipient providing a satisfactory progress report at six months after departure.
  • Provide an impact update on the support received at six months and twelve months from receipt of the award.
  • Upon approval of the Director of the QAEMT, the recipient may defer acceptance of the award due to extenuating circumstances may they be medical or force majeure.  Where medical, these may be substantiated by a medical certificate.  Deferral must not exceed 12 months.

If an award recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, award payments may be withheld, or the award may be terminated.
