Vice Chancellor's Excellence Awards

Dr Lucantoni is highly regarded by the University community as a trusted business partner for staff and students and plays a crucial role partnering with others leading to cross-boundary successful initiatives and objectives.

Catherine is recognised for her outstanding work in establishing and nurturing several high-level client partnerships crucial to the School of Education and Professional Studies (EPS). The success of these partnerships over the last five years have demonstrably benefitted EPS academics and significantly enhanced the University's reputation with external partners.

For supporting Griffith's culture of continuous improvement by proactively upskilling their team members across varying applications, developing a pipeline of automation opportunities which have provided beneficial impacts across within the Finance Service Delivery teams.

The group were awarded for the outstanding support they provide for the University's Open Conservatorium programs. The team's broad engagement efforts support the Open Conservatorium's connection to Queensland communities through music education and participation, which has led them to be a national leading program with more than 10,000 students nominated annually for 16 programs – clearly demonstrating the impact, value and attraction it brings the University.

Fiona was awarded for her support and engagement with the Digitising the Deep Past team, the Laura State School, and the wider remote and First Nations community. Fiona is praised for building open, respectful, caring and genuine relationships with every point of contact.

From within Campus Life, the team has been working hard over the last year to implement a number of initiatives to advance the University strategic goal of increasing the sustainability practices to help create a Future for All. The reduction of single-use plastics, increase in composting organic waste and installing Containers for Change collection stations around our campuses is helping achieve various United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Awarded for the team’s invaluable support and dedication towards creating an environment where students can access the support they need to succeed and thrive during their academic journey. This relatively small team assists over 4,000 students with a disability, which has seen a 67% increase since 2018. One of their more recent achievements, was the 100% satisfaction rating they received in the recent International Student Barometer survey.

The Tutoring for Success Program team members are being recognised for their contributions towards improving Indigenous students’ experience by supporting a significant uplift in academic performance among the cohort. This program's success has created a self-reinforcing cycle, with improved outcomes strengthening student and tutor engagement, leading to further advancements in results.

With special mentions given to David’s time within the Australian Rivers Institute, we celebrate David for exceeding the expectations of his position. David’s approach towards supporting the diverse funding initiatives of the Institute, his high level of encouragement, motivation, and intellectual contributions to numerous funding proposals, while keeping the experience streamlined and enjoyable for his colleagues, has been echoed across his nominations.

Tina is being recognised as a leader of Reconciliation at Griffith University. Having supported or led multiple Reconciliation initiatives, Tina consistently inspires and leads others in making remarkable contributions towards Griffith’s values including recognising the unique place of First Peoples in our history and culture and the importance of respecting Indigenous knowledge, culture and talent, and building the cultural capability of staff and students.

With resounding nominations reflecting an outstanding level of professionalism, dependability, and efficiency, Irene is recognised with a Highly Commended within the Excellence in Leadership category for her sustained contributions towards facilitating essential services that support the research capability and achievements of Griffith Criminology Institute.
