Endnote

As a Griffith student or staff member, you have free access to the current version of EndNote.

Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, researchers and academics can request support for EndNote issues.

Note: Sharing saved PDF articles from your EndNote library outside of Griffith breaches the University's licence agreement.

Academic integrity

Install EndNote on a personal computer

  1. Navigate to Student home use software library or Staff home use software library.
  2. If prompted, enter your Griffith username and password.
  3. Click the relevant EndNote version folder.
  4. Click the relevant OS (for example, Win) folder.
  5. Download all the files to your computer and then open the installer from this location to install the software.

Note: Check the EndNote website for system requirements.

Install EndNote on a staff computer

  1. Enter Installable Applications in the Search Windows box.
  2. Tick the relevant EndNote version.
  3. Click Install Selected.

EndNote comes pre-installed with over 500 output styles, allowing you to format your citations using a particular style (for example, APA ).

Download additional connection and output files (for example, APA 7) from the EndNote website.

Install an EndNote output style:

  1. Download the relevant output style
  2. Double-click the downloaded file
  3. The file opens in a style window
  4. Select File > Save As
  5. Update the Style name, click Save
  6. Close the style window
  7. Check the installed style is in the Bibliographic Output Style drop-down menu
  8. Click Select Another Style to see the list of all available output styles.

Note: Restart EndNote if you can't see the installed style.

AGPS Harvard

Note: The default Harvard style in EndNote is not the one used by Griffith University, you will need to install and use the below AGPS Harvard style.

Set your EndNote preferences to authenticate to our subscribed resources.

To enable preferences to Find Full Text:

  • Open EndNote
  • On Windows click Edit > Preferences > Find Full Text
  • On Mac click EndNote in the top menu > Preferences > Find Full Text
  1. Enter https://griffithuni.on.worldcat.org/atoztitles/link in the Open URL Path field
  2. Enter https://login.libraryproxy.griffith.edu.au/login in the URL field
  3. Click Apply or Save
  4. Close the Preferences window.

Automatically create references in your EndNote library for PDFs that have been downloaded from the source and saved on your computer.

To import a PDF into your EndNote library:

Mac

  1. Click File > Import > Options
  2. Select PDF File or Folder from the Import Option drop-down menu
  3. Browse and select the required PDF
  4. Click Import.

Windows

  1. Click File > Import > File
  2. Click Choose
  3. Browse and select the required PDF
  4. Select PDF from the Import Option drop-down menu
  5. Click Import.

Note: The information in the created reference will depend on the metadata attached to the PDF .

Zotero is a free reference management tool. Use it to help collect, organise, and manage your references. It allows you to automatically create citations and bibliographies.

The browser add-on allows you to download references and their associated files—for example, PDF articles and book chapters—directly to your Zotero library from any site you visit.

Mendeley is a free reference management tool. Use it to help collect, organise, and manage your references. It allows you to automatically create citations and bibliographies, share your research and collaborate with others.

Note: Add-ins are blocked in the Griffith O365 environment. If you see a blocked add-in message when trying to install Mendeley Cite, complete the Request an add-in form. The request form is normally reserved for staff, requests from students may be approved.
