Southport Rotary has had a long commitment to assisting youth nationally and internationally. Cyril Richarde was a national pioneer in international Rotary humanitarian service. Through the creation of the Rotary Club of Southport Cyril Richarde AM International Scholarship, the Club aims to support a student who demonstrates a commitment to community service. The Rotary Club of Southport Cyril Richarde AM International Scholarship was established in Trimester 1, 2022.

Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, with preference given to the following countries: Indonesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Philippines, Timor Leste.
- Have a minimum GPA in current program of study at Griffith of 4.0 or above on a 7-point scale or equivalent.
- Be a full-time (40 CP ) continuing student in Trimester 1, 2025, with at least two trimesters of study remaining.
- Have demonstrated community involvement in Griffith Mates, Griffith Mentoring and/or PASS .

Process
- Apply for the scholarship by the 15 March 2025. You will need to include a 300 word (maximum) statement about your participation and demonstration of community involvement in at least one of the following, and other relevant activities:
- Griffith Mates
- Griffith Mentoring
- PASS
- Your scholarship application will be reviewed and assessed by a panel.
- We will let you know the outcome of your application. The selection panel's decision is final and no further correspondence will be made once students are notified of the outcome.
Receiving the scholarship
- The scholarship will be applied upon award, normally by the census date of each Trimester, upon meeting the ongoing enrolment requirements (see below). You must pay the remaining balance of fees, based on your enrolment, by census date.
- To maintain the scholarship deduction you must be enrolled full-time in your program, unless credit prevents full-time enrolment.
Terms and conditions
The recipient may hold the Scholarship subject to:
- The Scholarship applies to tuition fees only.
- The Scholarship covers $5,000 tuition fees only, paid across two trimesters, $2,500.00 per trimester, for one year, upon meeting the ongoing enrolment requirements (see below). Each deduction will normally be applied by the census date of each relevant trimester of the program.
- Students must be international fee paying to qualify for the scholarship and each scholarship deduction. Any change from International Fee Paying student status will result in the scholarship being withdrawn.
- Student must be enrolled in an on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program.
- Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.
Ongoing enrolment requirements
- Students must maintain their enrolment according to their visa requirements.
- Students must remain enrolled in the program for which the scholarship offer was made.
- Should a student withdraw or cancel for any reason, the scholarship amount is non-refundable.
- To maintain scholarship eligibility, students must pass all the requirements for each trimester of studies and successfully progress on to enrol in the next required trimester. A minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0 on a 7.0 point grading scale must be maintained to qualify for the tuition fee deduction in the following trimester of enrolment.
