The importance of authentic experiences with physics and especially great female role models is extremely powerful for influencing young people’s choices at school.
The Growing Tall Poppies program highlights the role of physics in solving real-world issues transparently through hands-on learning. We break down stereotypes about physics being too hard and only for boys, by increasing girls’ identity within the field of physics, highlighting career pathways and the frontiers that are opened by studying physics.
We use the real nature of science and scientists as leaders to inspire the next generation of girls in physics. We are growing tall poppies in Science.
This event is sponsored by the Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology (CQC2T)
Program details
In the interests of prioritising the health and wellbeing of our staff and students during what are exceptional circumstances, we have decided to postpone Growing Tall Poppies until further notice.
This approach is about supporting wider efforts to contain and slow the spread of COVID-19.
Griffith has a role to play in this endeavour and postponing various non-essential events ensures we can instead focus on delivering the University’s core businesses of teaching and learning and research in these uncertain times.
Thank you for your understanding around this postponement.
