Guided learning, positive role modelling, assessment of performance and professional excellence is fundamental for the success of our future professionals.

Internships and work experience provide students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in their chosen profession, whilst gaining exposure in a professional setting and bringing new, innovative ideas and perspectives to an organisation.

Our internship programs integrate academic knowledge with its application in the workplace. It involves a collaborative effort between student, university and industry whereby students are assisted to learn the theory and practice in the discipline of their chosen profession whilst working along industry professionals.

Work experience

A large number of students seek to undertake voluntary unpaid work experience during their degree, in order to gain practical experience relevant to their studies, explore career options or make more informed decisions on their career development, and increase their employability skills.

Unpaid work experience can be lawful so long as the student is not conducting 'productive' work, the main benefit of the arrangement is to the person undertaking the placement, and it must be clear the person is receiving a meaningful learning experience, training or skill development. Learn more on the Fair Work Ombudsman website.

Note: Under section 12 of the Education (Work Experience) Act 1996, a work experience placement must finish in the year it starts and the student must not receive work experience for more than 30 days in a year.
