Family groups
South Bank, Nathan and Mount Gravatt campuses are situated on the land of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera and Turrbal peoples. Logan is situated on the land of the Yuggera, Turrbal, Yugarabul, Jagera and Yugambeh peoples. The Gold Coast is situated on the land of the Yugambeh/Kombumerri peoples.

Griffith Health group
The Griffith Health group operate the most comprehensive health facility in Australia to provide students with an unrivalled clinical experience nad working environment. They are committed to increasing the intake of students form low SES and rural and regional backgrounds and preparing graduates for careers in the diverse health industry.
Indigenous Research Unit
The Indigenous Research Unit supports development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics and higher degree researchers and their projects.
Advisory board
The Griffith University Elders and First Peoples Knowledge Holders Advisory Board provides strategic advice and guidance to the Vice Chancellor on establishing and maintaining effective and ongoing engagement and consultative mechanisms with First Peoples communities and partners; and on priorities, strategies and initiatives for First Peoples teaching and learning, research and engagement. FPHU regularly meets with Board members to seek advice on significant and relevant issues that influence how FPHU conducts its business towards Closing the Gap.
Griffith University First Peoples
Griffith University has the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student population of any university in Queensland, with our campuses set within one of the fastest-growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait populations in Australia. Griffith University First Peoples work with Elders to develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement strategies and partnerships for community empowerment, as well as a curriculum informed by respect for the knowledge systems of our First Peoples. They also undertake important research to further the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and promote reconciliation, respect, education and engagement.
Advanced Design and Prototyping Technologies Institute
The institue brings together multi-disciplinary expertise across Griffith University in collaboration with leading industry partners to push the boundaries in advanced custom design, rapid prototyping and new materials, in what is called the “next industrial revolution” or Industry 4.0. FPHU partners with ADaPT to share innovation in health and to promote and inspire the use of technologies in healthcare.
Institute for Urban Indigenous Health
IUIH is a Community Controlled Health Service (CCHS) that leads the planning, development and delivery of health, family wellbeing and social support services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of South-East Queensland. FPHU and IUIH co-jointly coordinate and conduct an annual camp for Cadets in the Indigenous Allied Health Australia Academy so they can experience university life and familiarise themselves with tertiary study opportunities.
Kalwun Development Corporation
Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd provides innovative and progressive services within a holistic framework. We provide access to affordable housing, dental and medical services, health programs, home and aged care, family wellbeing, parenting and educational programs, foster and kinship care, cultural promotions and tours. FPHU and Kalwun regularly join forces to achieve our common commitment in Closing the Gap by co-hosting or supporting programs, events and activities.
University of Tasmania
UTAS study and preserve some of the last great wilderness on our planet. From the island shores of Tasmania, the UTAS research extends to the great Southern Ocean and down to the Antarctic which has made them #1 in climate action globally.
FPHU are developing a working relationship with UTAS to share and promote innovative programs in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare and health education.
Sobah
Sobah is breaking down the stigma of socialising sober. You can enjoy a unique tasting non-alcoholic craft beer while out with mates. They promote healthy lifestyle choices and wellness, social equity, sustainability, smash stereotypes, unite people and of course, their beers quench thirst. Sobah is a purpose-led business to raise positive awareness and promote First Nations' culture, arts, language, and history. Clinton Schultz, Griffith University’s Outstanding First Peoples Alumnus Award winner 2018, is a co-founder and co-owner of Sobah. FPHU and Sobah are developing strong productive relationship towards Closing the Gap.
South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute
The institute believes in a healthier future for all Australians. The Institute listens to the needs of its communities to deliver research that changes the way healthcare is delivered. Through research excellence, innovation and strategic partnerships, SAHMRI turns discoveries in health and medical research into impact for the community to improve their lives and the health of all Australians.
Acknowledgment of Country
The First Peoples Health Unit acknowledges the wisdom inherent in the Traditional Custodians of Australia as the oldest surviving culture in the world. We recognise their custodianship of the land on which all Griffith University campuses are located. We recognise the connection to their land, air, sea and community. We would like to pay our respect to their Elders and Leaders that are past, present, and future. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
