Why is this study being conducted?

This research study is testing a potential new treatment for Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgAN). IgAN is a progressive condition that causes chronic kidney disease. Over time, some patients develop end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) requiring dialysis or kidney transplant.

The purposes of this study are to determine the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication in the treatment of IgAN and to better understand IgAN as well as the associated health problems.

Who is eligible to participate in this study?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have been diagnosed with Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgAN)

Applicants who express interest in participating in this study will be reviewed and contacted as other requirement criteria must also be met.

What happens during the study? 

You will be assigned to receive either ravulizumab or placebo (non-active medication).

Trial duration will be about 2 years and you will have about 17 trial visits.

Trial site visits will occur at the Griffith University Clinical Trial Unit on the Gold Coast.

Volunteer to participate

Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and participants can decide to withdraw at any time.

Eligible participants will be reimbursed for travel associated with each study visit.
