Unlock your potential, explore your future and make lifelong friends

This exclusive, invite-only event is designed for students from Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Attendees will get a glimpse into university life, expand their horizons beyond the high school classroom and connect with peers who share their goals, passions and values.

Students will have the opportunity to explore our Gold Coast campus and its world-class facilities and discover what studying at Griffith is like. They’ll also be introduced to our values, and how they inform everything we do as a university—from our support for sustainability and environmental resilience to our ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and diversity.

To make this event as accessible as possible, our Future Leaders Retreat is all-inclusive, with accommodation, food and activities provided by Griffith.

Throughout the three-day camp, we had the privilege of listening to inspirational speakers such as Olympic Gold medalist, Duncan Free, and public speaker Stewart Gillies, providing us with valuable skills required for presenting in front of a large audience. This event was also a brilliant opportunity to meet other potential future leaders, which we were able to freely discuss our future aspirations and goals as a leader within the local community

Application and attendance criteria

We’re seeking students who’ve made meaningful contributions to their school or community. They might have promoted a sustainability initiative, helped to foster diversity and inclusion, advocated for social justice, driven change and innovation, or simply shown empathy and led by example.

Schools will nominate two to five students who are commencing Year 12 that they believe would benefit from attending. Students will be selected based on their statement. Not all nominated students may be selected to attend.

Griffith University’s Future Leaders Retreat was an amazing opportunity to connect with other students, staff, and leaders in the community. This retreat helped me become a better leader and find my pathway into the future. I highly recommend this opportunity to Year 12 students
