For some programs there are specific requirements that include a set repertoire, and you should ensure you read the information for each specialisation/degree you’re applying for on our audition web pages for Music and Performing Arts. While ensuring that the audition requirements are met, we recommend that applicants perform a piece that best represents who they are as a musician or performer. We use the application and audition as a chance to get to know you and your interests, so performing a song you connect with is a great start. For the Bachelor of Music, if you are applying for multiple performance specialisations perform using your preferred instrument.

We’d love you to be able to attend your live audition in person – it’s not only a great way to connect with the audition panel, but you’ll get to see the campus and more of what we have to offer when you study with us. We understand though that there may be circumstances that prevent you from travelling. Please email us at qcguadmissions@griffith.edu.au if you won’t be able to attend a live audition during audition week, 25-29 September. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

The Bachelor of Music usually takes around 180 – 200 students each year. The Bachelor of Musical Theatre and Bachelor of Acting take approximately 16 - 20 students for each program per year.

If you are auditioning for the Bachelor of Acting or Bachelor of Musical Theatre, you will not need to provide your own accompanist for a Phase 2 audition. For the Bachelor of Music live auditions, some specialisations require an accompanist whilst for others this is optional and you can even use a backing track. Check your specialisation on the music auditions website. If you do require an accompanist, you can either provide your own or we have a list of suggested accompanists available on the website.

Yes, the songs from your audition should be from the musical theatre repertoire. That doesn’t mean they need to be from a particular musical theatre genre – if you’d prefer to sing from a more classical production or a contemporary pop production, that’s totally fine.

No, they don't need to be at a certain level. For the Bachelor of Music recorded audition, we ask you to submit a piece on your most preferred instrument that you feel best represents you. For the live audition, there are specific requirements depending on your chosen specialisation. More information is available on our music auditions website.

There is no need to apply separately for the Diploma of Music, you will be considered for the Diploma if we cannot make you an offer for the Bachelor of Music, and if you are eligible for a Diploma offer we’ll reach out to you with further information. Students in the Diploma will attend the same classes as students in the first year of the Bachelor of Music and will transition into the second year of the program on successful completion.

All applicants for the Bachelor of Music who submit a recorded audition and pay their audition fee will be invited to a live audition. For our performing arts programs, invites for the live audition workshops will be sent mid-September.

Yes, absolutely! You can apply in your final year of high school, or any year after that.

Yes. You could be eligible for different scholarships based on your background, chosen study area, hardships you’ve experienced, or your achievements so far.
