About the service
Clients connect to the Griffith University network via a physical cable, providing access to online resources (eg. Blackboard, shared drives, Staff portal) and the Internet. The wired network service provides access to an ethernet network at up to 1 Gb/s to the desktop. It is a multiservice network supporting IPv4, data, voice and video services.
Requests and costs for for new outlet installation, to activate or deactivate an existing port, requests for network cable (also known as a patch lead) or additional firewall access is available online.

What can I expect?
- Access to the network will be available 99% outside of scheduled maintenance activity
- Simple Network ports activations (1-2 ports where cabling is existing) completed within 5 days in 99% of instances
- Complex Network ports activations (> 2 ports) completed within 5 days in 95% of instances
Cost
There is no cost associated with the use of this service. Exceptions to this may occur if a large number of new installations are requested by an element (e.g. a new office space). This work would be undertaken by an external vendor and costs passed through to the requesting element.
