The Urban Squeeze is making an outstanding contribution to public understanding of diverse land-use, strategic, environmental, energy and transport planning issues in Australia.

Planning Institute of Australia Awards
Urban issues are what everyday Queenslanders are concerned about so it’s no surprise CRI's Dr Tony Matthews and UTAS Professor Jason Byrne's radio show Urban Squeeze has been a resounding success.
The pair’s ABC program won the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) National Award for Cutting Edge Teaching and Research (2018). That award built on previous successes from 2017, when the show was named the overall winner for Planning Excellence at the PIA Queensland awards evening and also claimed the ‘Cutting Edge Excellence – Research and Teaching’ category.
