Harnessing sustainable solutions for a healthier future
The Centre for Catalysis and Clean Energy (CCCE) is a strategic research centre for innovation in material sciences and energy sustainability. Our goal is to deliver positive research outcomes that help drive healthy, clean and sustainable environments, both now and in the future.
Our researchers have contributed significantly in the development of electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis and thermocatalysis principles, and nanostructured catalysts for important reactions of solar energy conversion, batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen generation, nitrogen-fixation, biomass-derived platform compounds upgrading, environmental remediation, bactericidal and sensing applications.
In 2021, the Centre underwent a name change to reflect the expertise of its members. The Centre for Catalysis and Clean Energy was well known nationally and internationally as the Centre for Clean Environment and Energy.

Sustainable Development Goals
Griffith University is aligned with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and committed to clean water and sanitation, and affordable clean energy.
Partnerships
Global collaboration is critical to our overall research success. We work closely with a number of national and international institutes and researchers in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Europe and the US. Through these strong ties and active research collaborations, we can access an extended bank of world-class facilities.
Facilities
The Centre for Catalysis and Clean Energy has a major equipment laboratory for materials characterisation and nano and sensing technology.
