Connect with industry-ready research students
Research students are problem solvers with keen analytical skills, and at Griffith we encourage practical applications to solve real world problems. Discover how your organisation can benefit by engaging their expertise through industry projects, internships and employment opportunities.
The HDR candidates who complete the Emerging Industry Leaders Program (EILP) gain industry-relevant professional skills and are featured in our HDR industry talent pool.
Emerging Industry Leaders Program
The Emerging Industry Leaders Program is a professional development program for HDR candidates at Griffith University.
The program is designed to bridge the professional skill gap HDR candidates face as they transition from academia to industry positions. HDR candidates from across the University and anticipating employment in industry will be joining the program twice a year.
During the program, participants will have the opportunity to develop their professional skills for future employment in industry and meet with senior-level industry leaders to share their research and ideas for future collaboration projects.
Emerging Industry Leaders Program 2024
The Emerging Industry Leaders Program will be running again in Trimester 2 2024:
- Day 1: Wednesday 2 October 9.30am to 3pm (Gold Coast campus).
- Day 2: Wednesday 9 October 9.30am to 3pm (Gold Coast campus).

Opportunities to engage with our HDR talent
Emerging Industry Leaders Program
On day two of our Emerging Industry Leaders Program, industry supporters are invited to network with our HDR candidates and explore opportunities to:
- work together on future collaboration projects
- work for the industry supporter on a project related to their research project
- undertake a self-sourced internship.
HDR candidate employment
Our employment service can assist your organisation to fill professional positions that require higher-level skills.
We can help you reach HDR talent across all study disciplines and screen candidates based on your unique criteria.
Full-time HDR candidates may be permitted to work on business research projects alongside their program if the research undertaken for an employer is related to their research topic.
Research internships
Using skills developed through doctoral studies, research internships provide opportunities for HDR candidates to test the waters in a real-world setting.
Contact the Griffith Graduate Research School to find out more.
Griffith Industry Sprints
Griffith Industry Sprints are an opportunity for organisations to ideate with Griffith HDR candidates, Griffith researchers and academics, external businesses and community groups on a business problem.
The collective group then bring their talents and expertise, to shine a new lens on the business problem.
The first industry sprint kicked off with a business problem as well as an issue that requires a diverse range of voices in the room: Affordable Housing in Regional Areas.
