A single sitewide strategy to improve the underlying services infrastructure at Nathan campus

There is currently a significant project underway at Nathan campus that involves replacing aged underground services and providing new services for upcoming buildings, as part of a comprehensive sitewide strategy.

Project Scope

The project involves various modifications, upgrades, and diversion works, to all site services e.g. power, data, water and drainage. This includes the extension of the dedicated fire main project which is a significant upgrade of our existing fire fighting capability. These works serve as preparation for the demolition of the Central Chiller Plant (N45), Environment 2 (N13), provision of future connections for New Arrivals Building (N82), Technical Annex (N81) and to accommodate future works for Nathan campus.

Project Status

The first stage of the project identified diversions and replacements required to allow the Central Chiller Plant (N45) to be demolished.

Status: Complete, March 2022

The second stage facilitates the demolition of Environment 2 (N13), and provision of future connections for New Arrivals Building (N82).

Status: Construction underway

The third stage will include services across the north side of the campus from West Creek Road to Mimosa Creek.

Status: Scoping in progress

Project impact and location

As part of the works there will be some impact to roads and footpaths around the Nathan campus, as well as outages required as the new or upgraded services come online.

There are temporary relocations of all bus stops in the Arrivals Plaza at Nathan campus to Ring Road (in front of N23). This relocation will also affect taxis, drop-off zones, intercampus bus, and the pick-up zone.

Pedestrian and vehicle access

Please note that there will also be minor adjustments to vehicle and pedestrian access along East Creek Road around Health Sciences (N48), Environment 1 (N55), and towards Patience Thoms (N06). Signage and traffic management will be in place to support these diversions and offer directions.
