Bridging the theory-practice divide in teacher education programs
The aim of the Teacher Education Industry Advisory Group (TEIAG) is to grow productive university/industry partnerships to enhance learning. This is achieved through five strategic priorities:
- Create research dialogue among partner organisations.
- Enhance pre-service teacher education.
- Enhance continuing professional teacher development.
- Support, promote and celebrate the teaching profession.
- Harness technology to improve learning.
Membership of TEIAG comprises representatives from all school education sectors, state government, Catholic, Anglican and Independent, the Queensland Teachers Union and representatives from classroom teachers and administrators. This broad group of industry members works in partnership with the Griffith School of Education and Professional Studies (EPS) to collaboratively develop effective undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs.
TEIAG does more than bridge the theory-practice divide in teacher education programs. It builds capacity and capability in all partners involved in the teacher education enterprise, not only in pre-service teachers, but also in teacher educators working in the university and school sectors.
TEIAG groups run at Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane, and online for Rural and Remote educators.
