Audition requirements
You will need to provide a portfolio of works and may be invited to complete an interview.
Your portfolio of works should consist of at least 5 recent contrasting compositions and a resume of achievements and experience. Applicants should also provide manuscripts and audio recordings of the compositions and corresponding scores (where appropriate).
The audio recordings can be MIDI playback files and/or live recordings of acoustic instruments and/or vocal performances. Applicants should seek a balance in the number of works for solo instrument, chamber works, orchestral scores, vocal/choral compositions and electronic works so as to best represent the scope of their musical activities and their engagement with diverse musical instruments.
You will need to submit your recordings through a secured link on, for example, YouTube or Vimeo, or via a Dropbox link. Please ensure that your security settings allow access with permissions set so that files can be viewed and downloaded without requiring login details.
An interview with staff from the Conservatorium may also be required.
Discussion with the panel will focus on compositional aspirations, directions and goals, evidence of engagement as a composer with performing groups or community organisations or similar, general education and other relevant matters.
Instrumental Conducting audition requirements
You will be required to submit a video recorded performance audition and complete an interview.
Video recorded performance
The video recorded performance audition must be approximately 30mins in duration with at least five contrasting selections. The video should show uninterrupted vision of the applicant facing the camera and members of the ensemble should also be clearly visible. A description of each recorded selection is required, including information about the ensemble, repertoire, date and any other pertinent information.
You will need to submit your recordings through a secured link on, for example, YouTube or Vimeo, or via a Dropbox link. Please ensure that your security settings allow access with permissions set so that files can be viewed and downloaded without requiring log-in details.
The recording must be dated and certified by the applicant as being an unedited performance. This should be accompanied by a signed document provided by the person in charge of the recording session confirming that the recording is an unedited performance by the applicant.
