We have successfully collaborated on projects with companies like Queensland Rail, Queensland Children's Hospital, Economic Development Queensland, Urban Art Projects, Brisbane Airport, Liang O'Rourke, Suncorp, Ipswich City Council, Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and Griffith University.
Longreach mural
Longreach Regional Council has joined with Griffith University and the community to create a colourful masterpiece on the Old Thomson River Bridge in Longreach. The design process for the mural consisted of workshops with the community and students from the Queensland College of Art and Design. The final design reflects the history, as well as the future, of the region.
Griffith University, Nathan campus Arrivals Plaza
This mural is located at the Nathan campus Arrivals Plaza, designed by Bachelor of Visual Art student Niamh Flynn and installed by students studying Public Art. 'Growing Here' is a visual rhythm of native floral forms, referring to local floral shapes and colours to reflect the landscape surrounding the campus.
Gold Coast Commonwealth Games
Working with the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Corporation, QCAD LiveArt developed a student mural project for the Main Media Centre. Students from Design and Visual Art backgrounds worked together in this high-profile location. The painted mural uses abstract and dynamic sweeping forms to capture the active movements of the games.
Queensland Children's Hospital
Through an Expression of Interest and student submission process, the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Health Queensland, Arts in Health Advisory Committee selected Visual Art Honours student Natalie Lavelle to develop this artwork design for the Oncology Walkway. Natalie engaged in meaningful discussion and community consultation with the hospital, patients and their families to understand how and who uses the walkway in order to develop an artwork design that is meaningful to different stakeholder groups.
Student feedback
"It's a whole different thing to have our work out in the world - it's mind-blowing knowing that thousands of people are going to see my design every day.” Niamh Flynn
"This is a really different experience - instead of working on a piece that will go up on the wall of a gallery, you have the whole building as your canvas, and you get a chance to work together as one. We've also picked up practical skills that will help us after we graduate, like training on the elevated platform and lifts." Daniela Louvel
