Siri-ous business
Associate Diploma of Music
Queensland Conservatorium graduate Karen Jacobsen speaks to most Australians each day.
The international entertainer, singer, songwriter and motivational speaker is also the original Australian voice behind Apple’s famous Siri, and features on over a billion smartphones and GPS navigation systems.
Twenty years in New York City’s entertainment scene proved an inspiring creative backdrop, with Karen also having released ten studio albums as a singer and songwriter.
Now based in Queensland’s Whitsunday region, Karen continues to work with clients around the world – remotely inspiring audiences to ‘recalculate their lives’ through both her music and motivational presentations.
Karen says Griffith staff went above and beyond to help her flourish as an artist and gain the most out her degree.
“I was a classically trained singer and piano player who loved pop music and I knew nothing about jazz,” she says.
“I was fortunate to have an incredible teacher who was directly responsible for my transition from being a student to becoming a professional musician— he really took me under his wing.
“To have a member of the faculty be so caring and supportive and just really committed to helping me move into a professional status— that was extraordinary.”
