Making a splash
Olympian medallist and Commonwealth Games medallist Cameron McEvoy is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Honours), at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. He is a member of the Griffith Sports College and an elite athlete in the sport of swimming.
Cameron was named an ambassador for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games which he described as an honour, particularly with the Games being held on his home turf. Cam won a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay and bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Cameron competed for Australia in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He swam in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 4x100m freestyle relay winning a bronze medal in the later. This was Cameron’s third Olympic campaign as he competed in London 2012 and Rio 2016 where he won another bronze medal as part of the 4x100m freestyle relay team.
"Being able to compete at one games is a huge privilege, but to complete in three is incredible. Now that Australia is hosting the 2032 Olympics, it's a huge opportunity and honour to compete at a home games. If my body holds up I'd love to be there" said Cameron.
