A web of possibilities
Accessibility allows people with disabilities to perceive, understand, navigate and interact with the web effectively and freely. Web accessibility also benefits others, including people with digital literacy and older people with changing abilities due to ageing.
Good web accessibility supports all disabilities that would otherwise deter access to the web, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities. It allows for compatibility with the range of assistive technology people with disabilities may use.
Web compliance
Worldwide guidelines for web accessibility seek to ensure web-based resources are available to all. The minimum requirements for all websites in Australia is the WCAG 2.1 with an AA rating, with which most Griffith University sites comply. Find out more about these guidelines at the Web Accessibility Initiative website.
